INTERNATIONAL CARAVAN SALON

As the sponsor of the International CARAVAN SALON trade show in Düsseldorf, the CIVD has been instrumental in the implementation and success of this leisure vehicle event, which is the largest of its kind in the world today. The CARAVAN SALON showcases the latest trends in the leisure vehicle sector, and in 2009 the event featured more than 2,000 caravans and motor caravans that were on view for both the trade and the general public, as were the latest solutions offered by the leisure vehicle supply industry, accessory manufacturers and service providers. The show also featured presentations by
campsites, motor caravan pitches, municipalities that promote caravanning, and various travel destinations. The 2009 edition of the CARAVAN SALON attracted approximately 162,000 visitors (about 2,000 more than in the prior year) and more than 550 international exhibitors.

The CARAVAN SALON also provides members of the trade from around the world with an invaluable opportunity to network via key industry events such as the "Quo vadis Camping und Caravaning" experts' forum sponsored by CIVD and ADAC General German Automobile Association), the Deutsche Tourismusverband
German Tourism Association) conference, and CIVD and DCHV (German Caravanning Trade Association) members meetings. The CARAVAN SALON was also the venue for the first annual Recreational Vehicle World Conference  (RVWC) in 2008.
